Peach Custard Kuchen

 

 

 

6 peaches, peeled and halved
or 12 canned peach halves
¼ lb. butter
2 c. flour
¼ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
cinnamon
4 egg yolks
1 pint all-purpose cream

 

 


Work butter into flour, baking powder, salt and 2 Tbsp. of the sugar. Mixture will be coarse like corn meal. Pat mixture evenly on the bottom and halfway up the sides of an 8-inch square Pyrex dish. Press firmly until mixture holds. Arrange peach halves cut side down in pan. Sprinkle with a mixture of cinnamon and rest of sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 min. Remove from oven. Slightly blend egg yolks and cream. Pour over peaches. Bake 30 min. longer. Serve warm or at room temperature.
